Experiences will teach you things books and others cannot relay to you. The experiences will be there for a lifetime. They are stories that you and your life generate that can be retold for years on end. The more extreme the experience the more extreme the lessons you learn.
The hardest thing I have found to do in life is the things you are afraid of. Most people are afraid of a few things here and there such as swimming or whatever. A general fear though among most humans is talking to new people...sober. It is difficult to get over that rejection. However the more you do the more you learn about not just others but about yourself.
The more you learn about yourself the better. You may think you know a lot but you probably do not.
How do I do the hard experiences?
Some experiences are like jumping into a pool. You know it's going to be cold if you just walk into it. That approach sucks. Just jump in and get that cold rush over with. It will get warm soon. You will acclimate soon enough. Or you could think of it like a band-aid. You got to just rip it off. Ever heard of the adage, quick and painless? It is just about the same kind of thing. Quick and painless. Get it over with quick and it will be painless...or less painful.
So get in there and experience some new things. Even if it is saying hello to a pretty girl at the store when you know there will be absolutely no other thing that comes after that. Just get in there and create a foundation of fearlessness and the rest will come. You must practice to become more perfect. We are all capable of social things, and other intense experiences. You just must try and keep trying. If it does not kill you it will make you stronger.
So if you haven't noticed you have seen a few adages.
- Quick and painless.
- Practice makes perfect.
- If it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger
Take chances and live life to the fullest. Grab the bull by the horns and ride it. (Life is the bull and the horns are the controls of it. Ride that bull, ride it!)
